Have you explored the 'Gospel of John'?
I would like very much to knowif you see YahuChanan as a Gnostic, anti-Semitic book.
Please let me know what you think of the following, please.
Three points. 1. 'John' did not speak of himself as a 'Jew'. 2. He spoke of the holy days etc as 'their', holy days, not ours. 3. Every effort is made to make the 'Jews' a byword and convict them of evil.
John 5:15-16 15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, whom had made him whole. 16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
Them ol' Jews are depicted as those who rejected him and wanted to kill him for breaking Sabbath.. it is not wrong to do good on Sabbath.
John 5:18 18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
The Jews themselves considered the men of Israel to be 'Sons of YHWH".
John 6:4 4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was near.
John constantly refers to the Holy Days as 'feasts of the Jews'. Do you refer to 4th of July as the holiday of the Americans? Of course not, you say our 4th of July holiday.
John 6:41-42 41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. 42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he says, I came down from heaven?
In the first place too much of this Gnostic book has no validity at all but we will continues any how.
John 6:52 52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
These 'crazed Jews' are so bloodthirsty that they fight with each other over him.
John 7:1 1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.
He says he was sent to the lost sheep of Israel and 'if these Jews are a part of Israel' he has just disobeyed his mission. Thus we are to 'understand' that these wicked Jews were never to have been the ones he brought a message to.
John 7:11-13 11 Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he? 12 And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceives the people. 13 Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.
Who are these men who would not speak openly ... Gentiles? Or are we to say the 'Jews' spoken of here are not part of the house of Israel?
John 8:48 48 Then answered the Jews, and said to him, Do we not say well that you are a Samaritan, and have a devil?
John 8:52 52 Then said the Jews to him, Now we know that you have a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and you say, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.
These 'ol Jews were speaking against Torah and Writings and Prophets?
John 9:18 18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
The Jews were unbelievers. What was YahuShua and his Disciples?
John 9:22 22 His parents spoke these words, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man confessed that he was Christ, they should be put out of the synagogue.
These Jews were afraid of these Jews?
John 10:19-21 19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings. 20 And many of them said, He has a devil, and is mad; why do you hear him? 21 Others said, These are not the words of one that has a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
John 10:31 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
Ah yes the murderous Jews. (so was John a Gentile?)
John 10:33 33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we do not stone you ; but for blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, makes yourself God. (See remarks above concerning this)
John 11:8 8 His disciples said to him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone you; and you are going there again?
To whom was he sent, if he was sent?
John 11:54 54 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went into a country near the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
John 11:55 55 And the Jews' passover was near at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
John 13:33 33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You shall seek me: and as I said to the Jews, Where I go, you cannot come; so now I say to you.
John 18:12-14 12 Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him, 13 And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year. 14 Now Caiaphas was he, who gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
Those wicked Jews were the ones to take him and the Sanhedrin, the High Priest broke Sabbath in order to call a secret trial, at night etc. Spare me!!!
John 18:31 31 Then said Pilate to them, Take him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said to him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:
John 18:36 36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from here.
Delivered to the Jews! Marvelous!
John 18:38 38 Pilate said to him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, I find in him no fault at all.
Righteous Pilate.. Evil Jews.. (from what viewpoint was John writing from?)
John 18:39-40 39 But you have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will you therefore have me release to you the King of the Jews? 40 Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
It is quite obvious that John was not speaking from a Jewish perspective, that he was rabidly anti-semitic. John is either totally a book written for support to Xtians or what ever may have been written by him has been redacted vigorously by the Xtians to put the Jewish people in the position of christ-killers.
