IS 49:1 Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.
This man (called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother) is talking about GOD mentioning his name.
IS 49:2 And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;
This man speaks with words that cut. He is a scepter.
IS 49:3 And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.
Now, GOD speaks and calls this man a SERVANT called ISRAEL.
IS 49:4 Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my GOD.
Then, this man (SERVANT) speaks of him laboring in vain and using his strength for nothing, but he knows that our LORD’s judging is “sure” and that his work is for GOD.
IS 49:5 And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
Now, our LORD tells this man to bring Jacob to HIM and even “though ISRAEL is not gathered”, this man (SERVANT) will be glorious in our LORD’S EYES and GOD shall be this SERVANT’S strength.

But, wait!!!
Isn’t this man (SERVANT) called ISRAEL in verse 49:3?
And now this man is talking about ISRAEL not being gathered.

In this next verse I realize who ISRAEL truly is and why HIS PEOPLE are called ISRAEL.
WE are HIS!!!

IS 49:6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.
GOD tells this man that it is a “light thing” that this SERVANT will raise up the Tribes of Jacob and restore HIS PEOPLE, ISRAEL.
GOD will also give this man to be a light to the Gentiles.

GOD calls him (this man SERVANT) “MY ISRAEL” in verse 49:3.
GOD calls him (this man SERVANT) “MY SALVATION” in verse 49:6.

I believe I know WHO this man SERVANT named

is.
