Hi Everyone,
When Messiah Yahushua was born into this world, his nation was ruled by an occupying power. This power was the city-state called Rome. Rome ruled the Mediterranean world. Rome was way ahead of all the other nations or powers because of her ability to wage modern warfare (I have to laugh here! Every period in history seems to have a modern. In warfare, whenever it reaches a peak as it did with Rome, then you will have area wide or perhaps even world domination.). Rome also was blessed with control over a fundamental necessity in life. She controlled the production and distribution of food, and she controlled entertainment. Does that not sound rather familiar to most Americans?
In the century prior to the birth of Messiah, Rome was a republic ruled by a governing body called the Senate. By the birth of Messiah, Rome was ruled by her first Emperor, Augustus Caesar. Octavius was the grandnephew of Julius Caesar.
I believe that history repeats itself. Right now, this world is on the verge of being confronted with its first dictator since the days of Julius Caesar. The rise of Julius Caesar and the rise of the United States on the world stage are eerily similar. For most of the last fifty years, our world has been ruled by a triumvirate of three powers, old world aristocratic Europe, the communistic East, and the new world West. At one time Rome was also ruled by a triumvirate of Marcus Crassus, Pompey, and Julius Caesar. After the death of Crassus, Caesar took complete control of Rome by defying the Senate and Pompey. Caesar crossed the Rubicon River with his army in defiance of Roman law. That marked in my opinion the beginning of imperial Rome.
The United States is in a similar position today. The analogy is not perfect, but there are many similarities. We are the best in modern warfare. No nation even begins to approach our capabilities. We could feed the whole world if that should be our desire. We entertain the world. Julius Caesar as dictator carried the title of Pontifex Maximus. We have a history of protecting religion. We do have the resources to promote religious freedom in the world, and we are extremely loyal to our friends.
It matters not what are adversaries say. Whether the crossing of our Rubicon occurred yesterday, today, or tomorrow, it matters not. It is our stage, and the world awaits our leadership. Perhaps, we should nonetheless keep a close watch on some of our friends.
Sincerely, Spying
