I recieved a notice that you sent me a message at Tzaddikim, yet I am unable to login. Everytime I do, it pops my name up on the current users, and then acts as though I never logged in. Bummer.

If anyone else has had problems, well I do.

Also, please post to Matthew23 that I am unable to post, so he knows why I have not responded.

I mean, I know I smell and all Hyssop, but do you really need to keep me off the board?

Hey, Scarlet. Matt here. What's up?

      Welcome Matthew23

...Hi Matt, good to see that you made the jump. I hope that you will stick around. It's a friendly place, though we do test each others knowledge. Where everybody went on Tzaddikim, I do not know. I do prefer it here at Lo-ammi in any case.

Thanks for letting me know about this one, Michael. I hope to have some good conversations about the bible here. Testing one another's knowledge... it's a great way to learn about the bible and other people's beliefs. Man, the internet is cool!

          Where's the Band?

          Greetings Matthew and Micheal,

Sorry I haven't been posting lately. I need a few excuses, however I left them in my other pair of jeans. Just haven't been motivated lately.

We kind of went on a tangent there on the 'trinity' thread over at Tzaddikim. However if you would like to get back into it I would be happy to do so. Let me know where we left off and I will be happy to get back to you. I also started a new thread under 'Open theology' about the forgiveness of sin. I'm surprised you Thummim haven't jumped on it. Thought it would be your cup of tea.

I will wish you a happy sabbath Matthew, however all things considered, one day maybe eh?

Happy sabbath to you Micheal, Spying (if you are reading this) and whomever else comes across this.

          Let's post some ya'll. I think I'm back.

            ego eimi

Searching, Scarlet, Valid, here is the post I had left over at the other forum...

I would like to say some things about one of my favorite bible verses, John 8:58:

56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

Hmmm. Why didn't J-sus say, "before Abraham was, I was"? Wouldn't He have made the point that He did exist before Abraham and therefore would have known about his rejoicing? Sure that would have worked. But J-sus was saying more than just the fact that He existed "before Abraham was." The Jews who heard Him say it knew this, and boy oh boy did they have quite a reaction!

The Greek Septuagint was the "bible of the day, the OT of J-sus' day" when J-sus made the "I am" statement to the Jews, who knew much about the scritptures. "Ego eimi" is the Greek phrase which John quoted J-sus as saying in John 8:58 (as well as others). That happens to be the same exact phrase that was used in the Greek Septuagint which the Jews that J-sus was speaking to were so familiar with. Where is this phrase used in the Greek OT? Exodus 3:14 And God said to Moses, "I AM (ego eimi) WHO I AM"; and He said, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you."

            back to John 8...
The Jews were ticked off at this point. Actually they were ticked off before this statement. You just know they were looking for an excuse to get rid of this guy. Then He says THIS! And the Jews go "Hey! Open season on the guy who just committed blasphemy! Aim your weapons!" Okay, maybe that's not exaclty what was said. And whay does J-sus do? He high tails it out of there!

Let's talk about this for a bit... Why DID He high tail it out of there? Why didn't He say to the Jews: "hold on just a minute here, what are you getting ready to stone ME for? I never said that I AM G_D!"

He didn't stop to say to them that He, uh, isn't G-d, either.
