    Shadows!

    Hi Everyone,

    It is the practice of my household to visually sight the New Moon of Abib as commanded:
    Deut 16:1
    1 Observe the month (moon) of Abib, and keep the passover unto YAHWEH thy ELOHIM: for in the month of Abib YAHWEH thy ELOHIM brought thee forth out of Egypt by night. (KJV)
    My wife and I follow this physical practice because we know that the New Moon is a shadow of things to come (Colossians 2:16-17), and we have learned many things about the future through our physical practice.

    This year my wife and myself are way out on a limb by ourselves because of our circumstance and practice. We did not sight the New Moon in Ellisville, MO, last Thursday, the 14th of March. I myself looked also for the moon on the 13th just in case. It has been cloudy in Missouri since Friday the 15th. I mean really cloudy. Yesterday, the weather broke and both my wife and myself saw the moon long before sunset. The moon is now about a quarter moon.

    There are other new moon watchers in the St. Louis area. Some of them are adding an additional month this year because they believe that the New Moon of Abib must always fall in the spring. It is interesting to me that in St. Louis the New Moon was not seen until yesterday, the first day of Spring.

    I believe that the Tzaddikim are the only ones in the world who insist that the new moon must be visually sighted locally no matter how many cloudy days it takes in order to see it. If there are any others who follow this same practice, I would like to get to know them in order to compare notes on what they have learned about the spiritual new moon. This year my wife and myself will celebrate Passover (Messiah's Supper) on Tuesday evening, the 2nd of April. We will observe the First Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread on Thursday the 4th of April, and we will celebrate the Seventh Day of the Feast on Wednesday, the 10th of April. If perchance there are any souls out there seeking to observe as we observe, we would be overjoyed to receive and meet with them.

    Robert Here, long time no see. 'Brad' you might rememeber me better as. I was the guy who came to a couple sabbath meeting and slept on your couch. I came in the time of Mr. Garret Schick.

    If I might ask, what is it that you believe the New Moon to be a shadow of? The Second Witness?

    I know the Psalm that says the moon is a faithful witness, coupled with the metephor that he phyisical moon seems to play in role of the celestial bodies, would seem appropriate. However, I have a large lack of 'seeing' this in scriptures. Any thoughts?

                Hi Israelthebride,

                Thank you! I will with the help of HIS spirit. It seems I can't help but search. I search everyday, at least, it seems so, and I am constantly wondering about HIS plan. I desire to know, and it is my heart's desire to do my part and reflect properly. I desire to glorify Messiah, and I know that this takes much more than good intentions. Often I do what I do in order to make up for my sin. That is better than good intentions, but not much. Seeing and knowing is alot easier than having the faith to do, but faith has no opportunity without knowledge.
