Hi Everyone,
Blessings to you through Messiah Yahushua, My YAHWEH and My ELOHIM!
When George H. W. Bush lost the presidency to William J. Clinton, I was tremendously saddened. I realized then that the United States would not again be led by a member of the Great Generation, that is, by my Father's generation.
For the most part the men and women of the Great Generation of my acquaintance believed as did George H. W. Bush in work and sleep. In my household, I do not remember much play from my parents. They were always working. My Father built five houses in his life time. Three while working full time. One while partially retired, and one when fully retired. My Father had one speed: Fast. Perhaps, his greatest complaint against me in my work was that I was too slow trying to do too perfect looking finished work. You all can still see that fault in the quality of my posts.
My Mother did wash, at first by hand with a wash board and a tub. She cooked for us, and washed our dishes. Ironed our clothes. She made a garden to grow vegetables, and she canned the vegetables for later use. She kept a very clean house, and she made sure that we were kept clean. Her work load increased after my brother Roger and ImAHebrew were born a year apart. They together were a handful for her.
From my point of observation, it seemed to me that there existed a degree of doggedness followed up with extreme determination to remain self sufficient by those of the Great Generation. They knew that they could (should) only depend upon themselves, and that more than anything else made them very special.
My Father died at 94. George H.W. Bush died at 94. The death of president 41 brought back memories of the death of my Father and others of the special Generation.
More later, ELOHIM willing.
Thanking anyone in advance that should be moved to reply, I am,
Sincerely, Latuwr
