Jesus confronting some religious leaders saying,

“You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life.
These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life”

These leaders thought they possessed life by diligently studying Scripture
What made these leaders feel accepted, worthwhile, and secure before God was that they knew their Bible and were confident they embraced the only true Bible-based beliefs.

BUT LACK OF KNOWLEDGE MADE THEM PERISH.

MILLIONS of people study the bible and perish from lack of knowledge.

The one true source of life IS Yeshua = the life.

He was trying to get them to see that there is no life in knowing the Bible and embracing Bible-based beliefs!
THE WAY INTO THE TRUTH IS BY KNOWING HIM intimately as a person, and HIM telling you how to live and remain alive here as HE DID successfully- and that secret is not found in the book.

By trying to derive false life from their confident knowledge of Scripture instead of the One Scripture points to YESHUA, these leaders had made an idol of their knowledge of Scripture BUT THEY ALL DIED FROM LACK OF KNOWLEDGE.

THE BIBLE FLAWS [aka -FLAWED INFORMATION]
Anyone who seriously reads the Bible has already seen the flaws.

The really sad part of this is that the Bible idolaters do have experience with the divine impulse, of contact or at least innate yearning for a transcendent ultimate.

Christ is telling them to study the scriptures because they will testify and lead them to Him Who is eternal life; yet they refused to listen and obey Him.

This part of the verse seeing you have forgotten the law of thy God is what destroys a person; and knowing his laws are knowledge, he is not a lawless God, and you mimic Richard Dawkings and a host of other atheistic unbelievers words of calling the Bible an idol, and we don't study the Bible because it's an idol, we study it to know his will for us, and it's certainly not disobedience as you promote.

He quoted the Old Testament scriptures more than 78 times, and the Pentateuch alone 26 times.

Messiah Yahshua quoted from Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Amos, Jonah, Micah, and Malachi. Messiah referred to the Old Testament as The Scriptures, the word of God, and the wisdom of God.
