Another seeming contradiction in scriptures cleared up.

Here below is a seeming contradiction that has baffled commentators for hundreds of years now. I only search out the most difficult seeming contradictions that others cannot solve.

First notice this text: Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. Matthew 27:45 See also Mark 15:33; Luke 23:44. Notice all 3 of these agree with each other.

Now notice John: And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! John 19:14.

Commentaries have been asking this question for years: If Christ was on the cross from the sixth hour to the ninth hour, how could Christ have been talking to Pilate on the sixth hour???? Is this a contradiction?

Now, compare this statement made by Mark in Mark 15:1 to John:19:14:And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

How can this seeming contradiction be reconciled ? Notice that Mark 15:1 corresponds to John 19:14.

There were 2 reckonings of "hours" being used in that time, one reckoning of hours was the Hebrew, and the second was the Roman reckoning of hours.

Matthew, Mark, and Luke is using the Hebrew reckoning of hours, which is the sixth hour to the ninth hour Hebrew, would correspond to the Roman hours of from 12 noon to 3 in the afternoon.

John said: "the sixth hour" that Pilate was talking to Messiah, and Mark says: "was in the morning". John was using the Roman reckoning of hours, and the 6 hour of Roman corresponds to "the 1st hour " of the day in Hebrew.

To John, the 6 hour was 6 AM in the morning, which corresponds to Mark 15:1.

There is no contradiction here at all, when you understand this.

Clearing Up Seeming Contradictions In The Bible.

There are other people who have cleared up seeming contradictions in the Bible.

Lucy, you would probably do well to listen to this man below, he even uses your words of "eat the meat and spit out the bones" that will clear up the many seeming contradictions in the Bible.

Are there contradictions in the Bible? There are no contradictions in the Word of God. Kent Hovind explains the truth about these so called contradictions....
