The tongue is a “woman” to the hidden man of the heart. The tongue is to be in subjection to the “husband”….the hidden man of the heart….Christ.
When we preach the Word, we are to be gentle and courteous toward ALL men with our mouths….so that even those who do not obey the Word may also be won over by how we speak….in love and kindness ….to them.
1 Peter 3:1-11 KJV
(1) Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
They will see how we use our tongues in love and kindness at all times….and shall fear.
(2) While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
We are not to speak His Word in deceit….with flattering words and fair speeches to deceive others for gain. Babylon is a “woman”…the flattering tongue of men… who dresses in this fashion: wearing of gold and putting on of apparel as a cloak of covetousness. She speaks great swelling words of vanity while handling the Word of God deceitfully in order to gain something from her hearers. Our tongues are not to be “adorned” with such things.
(3) Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
But let it be in the hidden man of the heart NOT having covetousness but the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit….breath. The breath exhales and the tongue gives birth to words. The tongue speaks what overflows from the heart. What manner of breath comes out of the heart to form words? Covetousness in the hearts of men are hidden by flattering tongue….Babylon…that speaks guile.
(4) But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
(5) For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
(6) Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
The tongue is the “weaker vessel” that we are to give honor to….always being courteous. We are to keep our tongues in check at all times…not rendering evil for evil. The tongue is to be in subjection to the heart and not vice versa. If we keep from speaking evil of others who will not agree with us, then our words...our "prayers"....shall not be hindered. No one will hear us if we behave badly and speak evil of others who do not agree with us.
(7) Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
(8) Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
(9) Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
The tongue is the “woman”…the “wife”….the “weaker vessel”…that we are to refrain from evil (giving honor to the tongue) and not speaking GUILE….deceit (not having an outward adorning of words in order to appeal to men’s lusts).
(10) For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
(11) Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
The 144,000 are “virgins”…for they do NOT defile themselves with “women”…that is, they do not defile themselves with their own tongues. They are without fault in speech.
Revelation 14:4-5 KJV
(4) These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
For in their mouth was found NO GUILE….no deceit. They do not defile themselves with “women”…they are “virgins”…without speaking evil and guile.
(5) And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.
The “bride” is a tongue that is to ready herself. We are to be afflicted and mourn and weep.
James 4:9-10 KJV
(9) Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
If we humble ourselves in the “sight”of the Lord, He shall lift us up. If we humble ourselves at the hearing of His Word of Truth, He shall lift us up.
(10) Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
“Mary” means “bitterness”. We are to be afflicted and mourn and weep. Like Mary, He will regard our “low estate”…the humbling of ourselves ….and will lift us up. He that is mighty will do us “great things”. We shall magnify the Lord. The things that applied to Mary applies to all of us.
Luke 1:46-49 KJV
(46) And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
(47) And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
(48) For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
(49) For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
If we humble ourselves, we shall find favor with God and He shall lift us up so that we may preach JESUS. We shall bring forth a “son” from our mouths….preaching Jesus in TRUTH.
Luke 1:30-35 KJV
(30) And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
(31) And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
(32) He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
(33) And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
(34) Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
We shall preach JESUS by the Holy Spirit which shall come upon us. We shall not "know man" who speaks what he knows not. The holy thing which shall be born of us shall be called the Son of God as others shall hear our preaching and Christ shall be formed in them.
(35) And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
When others shall hear the “salutation of Mary”, the “babe” shall leap inside us when we are filled with what we hear….the Holy Spirit. We are to be filled with what we are hearing….the Holy Spirit. Do not quench the Spirit in our wrath but instead be FILLED with what we hear and REJOICE.
Luke 1:41-45 KJV
(41) And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
(42) And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
(43) And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
As soon as the “voice” of our salutation is heard in others’ ears, the Son of God shall be the holy thing that is “born” in those who shall BELIEVE. The “voice” is really that of the Lord’s and we are to be JOYOUS when we hear Him.
(44) For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
Blessed is “she” that believes…confessing with the tongue.
(45) And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
Let us HEAR like Elizabeth and be glad and rejoice and give honor to Him. The “wife” is the tongue that makes herself “ready” by putting all evil and deceit out of the mouth. We are to humble ourselves and not resist what we hear the Spirit saying in wrath and contradictions.
